Philosophically, I think holography is very powerful. Consider that we debate about what is real, but what if what is real is completely different from how it appears? If the universe is somehow projected inward, then perhaps what we think of as reality doesn’t make sense because it is a projection of something else. Although you and I feel real to ourselves, we are acting out our lives on a projector screen. Are we any more real than the the light of the pixels in front of my face? On your other question about science becoming more helpless, I think science has become more complex and in particular the number of people who are involved in the science game is greater than ever. Science moves extremely quickly compared to the past. The greatest product of science is not answers but questions and so we have more questions than ever as well. It may seem like we know less but we are actually learning how little we actually know. Perhaps one day we will approach the Socratic ideal and recognize that we know nothing.
